    Reading research reports about what marketers are using have significant value. Especially if you are in marketing. Not simply to see what peer group members are using. But to learn what is working best in their audiences. As a group, marketers tend to favor and use those activities and tactics that they find work the best.

     

    However, in the instance of this study certainly didn’t bear out that conclusion. It found that marketers may have an idea of the effectiveness of certain tactics at various stages of the funnel. But, that apparently doesn’t mean they readily use those tactics. In fact, while the best performing tactics for top-of-the-funnel are referral, events and content marketing, the most-used tactics are email marketing, owned media and events marketing, in that order.
