As marketers, before we can create interest and compel action, we must get our audience’s attention. And when it comes to content, that’s the job of the headline copy, which can take many forms. It can be the subject line of an email. It can be the title of an article or press release. Or, it can even be the first sentence of hand-written note.
The headline is the most important sentence on the page
“On average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy,” said David Ogilvy, the Father of Modern Advertising. “When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.” Point being, make your first words good. Make them so good — so relevant and valuable — that they can’t be ignored.
This is the only way to ensure that the rest of your message gets consumed. But, how to make your first words too good to ignore? To learn how, read the full article at HubSpot.com.

Technology has forever changed the way we see our world. It has changed how we communicate with one another. It has even changed the way we consume information. And it has even forever altered how we access information with the arrival of eBooks.

Businesses will often offer them for free as a clever tactic for effective lead generation. But, regardless of whether they’re paid or free, eBooks take a long time to write and edit. Authors often spend days, months or even years researching, writing, editing and then finally publishing their eBooks.
That’s why it’s heartbreaking to have to break this news to you: producing a good ebook is NOT enough to generate the sales results you desire. And no matter how many deep insights, incisive research and unique content you provide, all your efforts may go in vain unless your eBook is promoted on the right channels, at the right time, to the right people. But how? Read the rest of the article on Jeff Bullas’s Blog to learn exactly How To Promote An eBook When You Have No Money For Advertising.

The art of creating compelling copy is crucial to any content marketing program. After all, copy is writing that sells. So by definition, it has to be compelling.
Does your copy also have to be clear and concise? Absolutely. Brevity and clarity will ensure that your message is digestible. That is important if you want your words to be read and understood with ease. That said, the clearest, most concise copy ever written is still a bust if it doesn’t compel its readers to act.
If your goal is to write clear, concise copy, then you can train yourself to do that. Just follow a few guidelines and, of course, practice. But if you want to write compelling copy, then you have to do a lot of research and even more critical thinking. So, let’s break it down at HubSpot.com

- Content Marketing, Conversion Strategies, Lead Generation
Whether you recognize the term or not – you’ve all seen and many of you have created gated content. That term refers to putting something on your website or landing page that people want. And then, asking them for information in exchange for that information.
That’s The Locked Gate and They Have the Key
The challenge with gated content is that you need to offer something that has great value if you want people to actually trade you information about them in exchange. The question is how many fields should you require. Studies show that the more information fields required, the fewer people you will get to actually complete the transaction. The best practice rule of thumb is no more than three fields if you want a higher conversation rate.

The big question is, when it comes to PR, what works now? There are a lot of tactics and techniques out there. But, there are some things that are rising to the top of the heap.
Why Not Ask the People Who Do PR to Find Out?
It seems fairly simple, if you want to know something, ask the people who do it for a living. And that is exactly what Sword and the Script Media and Ned Lundquist’s Job of the Week did. In February of this year, they polled 155 corporate communications and PR professionals.
They asked them what it is that they intend to use more and the directions they are moving towards. And they found some trends worth watching [view original report].
As an example, respondents ranked storytelling as the trend/tactic that will matter most over the next 12 months. Surprisingly, content marketing ranked second. And, this was followed by thought leadership, aligning with Marketing, and influencer marketing. But, to see more of the data and insights, read the full article at MarketingProfs.com
