Facebook ads have long been the gold standard in social advertising. This has been in part because Facebook allows brands to target incredibly niche markets. Then in 2013, Facebook acquired image sharing app Instagram. With that, Facebook was now able to add a simple placement option in their ads platform. It was so simple. You could now use a basic toggle in the Facebook Ads Manager platform to choose to show your ads on Instagram.
The Same, Only Different
And it can be tempting to treat Instagram ads the same as Facebook ads. But users still engage with the platforms in different ways. And the cost can be significantly different between the two. Global ad spending forecasts have been released recently. Zenith [link], MAGNA [pdf] and Dentsu Aegis Network [pdf], released their projections earlier this week. And as might be expected, there are some divergence of opinion. However, the all do agree on one major point, there will be a slowdown in ad spending this year.
Where The Smart Money is Going
One additional point of a consensus agreement between the three is that digital is finally set to overtake TV this year. It’s been threatening to happen for quite some time. But this seems to be the year for it to happen. Zenith finally sees internet advertising overtaking traditional TV. When exactly that will happen is still up to debate.

According to Kellie Cummings, “mindset segmentation identifies people based on their emotional desires and expectations […] Simply put, there’s more to customers than their willingness to purchase products. When employees see the human side of customers, they can develop communications that sustain customers’ trust.”
So how do you do it? To find out, read The Little-Known Personalization Strategy that’s Taking the Web By Storm (And How to Use It) at KISSmetrics.com

As you may be aware, the term marketing funnel describes the path a person takes from initially visiting your website to becoming a paying customer. With a clearly defined funnel, you can optimize each lead’s journey. And you can maximize the chances that they’ll eventually become paying customers.
Increase at the Top End is Easy. At the Bottom, well not so much
In order to execute an effective marketing funnel, you have to do two things. First, you need to increase the number of cold leads entering your funnel. And then, you need to decrease the number of leads who exit your funnel without converting.
One of the best ways to do this is with customer activation emails. So, here are 5 Customer Activation Emails to Add to Your Funnel at KISSmetrics.com

Making Content Part of Your Marketing Mix
- Jun 13, 2017

- Content Marketing, Lead Generation, Website Conversion Strategies
There’s always been a part of marketing strategy that emphasized content in some form. It can take the form of helpful tools or information that provides prospects something of value to earn their trust and a thought leadership position. However, what is “new” today is that every company has the capacity to be a publisher and information portal via their own website, blog, social networking pages etc.
It used to be difficult and expensive to do and today, it’s neither
In fact, most companies already have the distribution channels (Facebook page, Twitter account, website, e-newsletter, etc.) in place. They just tend to do a lousy job of using the tools at hand. For most businesses, these channels don’t get very much attention and they either languish from lack of relevant content or even worse, they become a brag book for their own accomplishments, awards, clients won, etc. They’re either dormant or so narcissistic that no one pays any attention and really, who can blame them?
To find out How to Make Content Part of Your Marketing Mix, read the full article at Drew’s Marketing Minute.
