What comes to mind when you see the term “SEO“? Where do you focus all your energy when you’re trying to improve SEO ranking of your website?
Spoiler Alert: SEO is More Than Keywords . . . .
However, if you’ve been working diligently on keyword optimization but are still not getting the results you want, you may need to consider other factors that affect SEO ranking. After all, keywords can only do so much. Using keywords will get visitors to click through to your site. But that is only half the story. If you approach SEO as “optimizing your website for people who use search engines,” the notion of user-friendliness becomes an important factor.
To see some of the various aspects of website usability that impact website ranking, how to improve SEO rankings by improving website usability and what to do when there seems to be conflict between usability and SEO “best practice” read the full article on Jeffbullas’s Blog.

We know that by itself, consumer demographic data is limited. It tells us nothing about their aspirations. There is no indication of their beliefs. We can’t understand their attitudes. Or do we gain any other subjective psychological measure.
What is psychographics? Why should you care?
This is where psychographics comes in. Psychographics is the study of people’s attitudes and interests. It is often studied in conjunction with demographic data to build more complete profiles of target markets and audiences around attitudes and beliefs.
That’s what makes psychographics so powerful

from MarketingCharts.com
There’s somewhat of a gap between expectations and reality when it comes to the B2B customer experience. According to a Marketo study [download page], vendors are less likely to provide a consistent experience than buyers are to value one.
Is it a Cause or an Affect?
There is some good news in the study. What they uncovered was that the channels that marketers are most likely to have integrated are also the ones that buyers use the most.
The study is based on surveys conducted among 1,192 marketers. The sampling consisted of 511 B2C consumers and 489 B2B consumers. To see more, read the full article at MarketingCharts.com

One of the truly great things about the discipline of marketing is a pursuit that it is in constant flux. Market trends move. And the constantly shifting winds of markets mean you need to constantly stay in tune with your key demographic. Yesterday it was Gen X, then Gen Y, then Millennials.
But now, Gen Z seems to be elbowing Millennials aside as the demographic most sought after by marketers. That may still be up for debate. However, Gen Z and its massive size — 2.6 billion by 2020 — and annual buying power — $44 billion — are clearly attractive to marketers.
96% of Gen Z owns a smartphone and 86% use social media to learn about new products.—mediakix
Perhaps no one understands this group as well as Connor Blakley. He is the 17 year-old entrepreneur who founded youth marketing agency YouthLogic to help brands market to young people. by Fabio Matsui
Marketers of B2B technologies have always dealt with distinct challenges. From the need to clearly and succinctly explain complex technical products and services to their customers and partners. To planning for sales cycles that can last years. And even to preparing for the fact that, by 2020, 85% of the customer’s decision-making will be completed without human interaction.
The True Impact of Video is to Reduce Complexity to it’s Simplest Form
With its capability to communicate the nuances of complex technology and more readily explain product differentiation, video continues to rise. It is proving to be an appropriate and powerful medium for B2B technology marketers. Video in B2B environments has succeeded by giving clarity to very technical subject matter and rendering it significantly more accessible to potential buyers. In fact, a Content Marketing Institute report found that 70% of B2B marketing experts named video as more effective than any other form of content when converting qualified leads. In short, buyers are people, and people simply prefer watching something to listening to a wordy salesperson.
Given that backdrop, the big question becomes one of “how”. How do marketers of B2B technologies get the most bang for their buck from their videos? To find out, read the full article at ChiefMarketer.com

Face-to-face events have always been a great way for B2Bs to reach clients and prospects. Even today, they remain an extremely valuable marketing touch-point used by B2B marketers. This is mainly because, they still constitute a great means to move prospects down the purchase funnel.
Events Need to Now Join the Era of Digital
Today, digital marketing tactics have become more measureable and data-driven by means of marketing technology. The 4 P’s of High-Tech Marketing for #MarketingSuccess
- Jul 15, 2017
- Dan Hoff

- B2B Marketing, Lead Generation, Marketing Strategies
It’s difficult to find a company mission statement that doesn’t at least allude to digital transformation. Or refer to the application of technology in all aspects of business. The right technology can be a differentiator for any size company. Even small businesses are demanding solutions typically associated with enterprise customers and high-tech firms.
Business intelligence and advanced metrics for a donut shop?
Why not? Cloud integration for a pet store? Sure. Big data for an online delivery service. Definitely. Advanced security for a law office? Of course! But what does this mean for business-to-business (B2B) technology? First, it’s a huge opportunity. Second, marketers need to figure out how to get customers who aren’t necessarily high level CIOs or IT professionals to connect with highly technical products.
So, how do you engage customers before their eyes have a chance to glaze over? Try the “four P strategy.” And to learn what they are and how to use them, read the full article The 4 P’s of High-Tech Marketing at Target Marketing.

Behavioral Marketing: A Closer Look at What Gets Consumers Clicking
- Jul 10, 2017

- Behavioral Marketing, Conversion Strategies, Lead Generation, Website Conversion Strategies
In the past, marketing to consumers was fairly simple. It was based on things like how many pages they visited on a site. But were rudimentary at best. They could tell you, in broad strokes, what a customer might be interested in. But they weren’t very specific. It was a lot like trying to guess what kind of picture a puzzle might make when you only have a couple of the pieces.
What is Behavioral Marketing?
Behavioral marketing has changed all of that. Rather than throwing a bunch of ads at consumers and hope some of the marketing message sticks, behavioral marketing takes all the available information. It takes browsing and search history, IPs and cookies and uses it to build a more definitive profile of the user. And then it permits you to tailor marketing messages accordingly.
But what should you know about it, and how do you get started? To find out, read the full article at KISSmetrics.com

Global ad spending forecasts have been released recently. Zenith [link], MAGNA [pdf] and Dentsu Aegis Network [pdf], released their projections earlier this week. And as might be expected, there are some divergence of opinion. However, the all do agree on one major point, there will be a slowdown in ad spending this year.
Where The Smart Money is Going
One additional point of a consensus agreement between the three is that digital is finally set to overtake TV this year. It’s been threatening to happen for quite some time. But this seems to be the year for it to happen. Zenith finally sees internet advertising overtaking traditional TV. When exactly that will happen is still up to debate.

Not very long ago, links became a commodity. But that all changed. Google’s Penguin algorithm torched a lot of websites that were artificially inflating their positions in the SERPs using thousands of low-quality footer links.
Quantity VS Quality And Your Content
So, ultimately, you have very little control over link building. In truth, link building is typically a byproduct of creating high-quality content that people want to consume. And therefore want to share and link to. So how do you create content that attracts links?

Making Content Part of Your Marketing Mix

- Content Marketing, Lead Generation, Website Conversion Strategies
There’s always been a part of marketing strategy that emphasized content in some form. It can take the form of helpful tools or information that provides prospects something of value to earn their trust and a thought leadership position. However, what is “new” today is that every company has the capacity to be a publisher and information portal via their own website, blog, social networking pages etc.
It used to be difficult and expensive to do and today, it’s neither
In fact, most companies already have the distribution channels (Facebook page, Twitter account, website, e-newsletter, etc.) in place. They just tend to do a lousy job of using the tools at hand. For most businesses, these channels don’t get very much attention and they either languish from lack of relevant content or even worse, they become a brag book for their own accomplishments, awards, clients won, etc. They’re either dormant or so narcissistic that no one pays any attention and really, who can blame them?
To find out How to Make Content Part of Your Marketing Mix, read the full article at Drew’s Marketing Minute.
